City of Albany Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) in partnership SOWEGA Rising is offering Small Businesses Relief Grants for Small Business Owners. This program was established for small businesses to build capacity, become financially accountable, to empower them with the tools and knowledge necessary to remain sustainable.

We Provide Funding

Small Business Capacity Building Program has been established to assist businesses with various operational and overhead expenses. The program funding is provided by The City of Albany Department of Community and Economic Development. These funds are intended to help and support businesses during these challenging economic times. A detailed description of how the funds will be used must be included with
each application submittal.

Upon completion of the program, a business can receive grant funds up to $5,000 to cover a wide array of working capital needs and general operating expenses (payroll, rent, utilities, marketing, advertising, PPE, etc.)

The deadline for application submissions is

February. 26, 2021 at 5 p.m.

All Small Business Capacity Building Grants will be awarded between April 5-9, 2021.

ALL applications must meet the criteria below.

  • Must be a for-profit business operating within the city limits of Albany Georgia
  • Be in business (6) months or more
  • Have (5) or fewer employees
  • Complete and submit an application by February 26, 2021
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR GRANTS ONLY

The following are the basic eligibility requirements for applicants to be considered for grant funding through the city of Albany Department of Community and Economic Development.  SOWEGA Rising in conjunction with Albany Business League will provide Financial Oversight and review each application to ensure that all eligibility requirements are met. All eligible applications will be reviewed by an independent selection committee. It is vital for all applicants to submit the required accompanying documentation to ensure a complete application submittal.

  • Business Certificate of Existence- One of the following:
  • Business License
  • Articles of Incorporation
  • Financial Statement -One of the following
  • Projected Financial Statements that include month to month cash flow projections, for at least a one-year period.
  • Tax Returns

All participants are encouraged to attend our Financial Management and Capacity Build Sessions

Q: When Is the Application Deadline and When will Grantees be notified of Awards?

Once the application period closes, the Financial Oversight Committee will review all applications to ensure eligibility. All eligible applications will be reviewed by the committee to recommend grant recipients and grant amounts, per their eligibility. A scoring matrix will be used to review each application so that it is a fair and equitable process

All Grants will be awarded by April 5-8, 2021.
